All jurisdictions in Summit County will work for preservation of our open spaces and economic stability throughout the county. Jurisdictions, rather than developers, will work cooperatively to make land use decisions.

Bill Wallace

Based on the assumptions that growth in Summit County residential, commercial, and tourist sectors is inevitable over the next two decades, we must collaborate on a strategic planning process. Ideally, this will incorporate perspectives from all public, private, and not-for-profit stakeholders to create a comprehensive land use planning document, as well as a vision of infrastructure needs for a diverse population living in a thriving community that retains its mountain character.

Don Parsons

1. An attractive physical and business environment in which to live, work and play, balancing the needs to preserve the naural environment with the infrastructure to encourage sustainable growth and development.
2. A world renowned "resort" offering both winter and summer sports and recreational facilities
3. A place known for its friendly and helpful residents.

My vision for Summit County would include keeping the National Forest the same size and in the same place. No more land exchanges. We need to have a reliable mass transit system from the metro area to reduce the number of cars on our roads. We need to find a CMC Campus that is not on the Dam Road or in the Pennisula. CMC could become the greatest asset in Summit County if we support it and allow it to grow and gain national recognition. We also need to make sure that our children are well educated from birth to finishing High School. We need to do as much as we can to help our foreign workers to provide the best schools and health care for them. We need to consider that our economy would collapse without them. We need to decide how big we want to grow, set a limit and stick with it. Growth is not always a good thing.

Gary Lindstrom

We accept that we are a rapidly changing and increasingly diverse community. We agree that we must work together if we are to prosper. We identify people, natural beauty and high quality of life as our greatest social and economic assets. We aspire to be a sustainable people-first countywide community with a long range plan to nurture individuals, family and community, protect our natural heritage and enhance a high quality of life.
